Equiano has a total length of 15,000 km, it has a design capacity of 144 Tbit/s offering an unprecedented 20 times more bandwidth than any other cable currently serving West Africa, using space-division multiplexing (SDM) technology. Equiano is the first subsea cable to incorporate optical switching at the fiber-pair level, giving Google greater flexibility to add and reallocate capacity in different locations as needed.
